- BLAST search analysis was used to determine that the smooth and non-muscle forms of myosin regulatory light chain have identical sequences

- Myosin regulatory light polypeptide 9 is a highly conserved, ubiquitously expressed protein that in humans is encoded by the MYL9 gene
