- Description: The monoclonal antibody HHF35 recognizes muscle actin; specifically the alpha and gamma form found in skeletal cardiac, and smooth muscle
- No reactivity to the beta form is observed
- The 42 kDa protein is a main component of the cytoskeletal structural network
- The HHF35 antibody has been shown to recognize actin from smooth muscle cells of the heart, bladder, uterus, gastrointestinal tract, and diaphragm
- The antibody stains tumors of muscle origin such as leiomyomas, leiosarcomes and rhabdomyosacromas
- The HHF35 antibody recognizes human, mouse, rat, bovine, canine and non-human primate actin
- Applications Reported: This HHF35 antibody has been reported for use in immunohistochemical staining of frozen tissue sections, immunohistochemical staining of formalin-fixed paraffin embedded tissue sections, and immunocytochemistry
- Applications Tested: This HHF35 antibody has been tested by immunocytochemistry and can be used at less than or equal to 30 μg/mL
- It is recommended that the antibody be carefully titrated for optimal performance in the assay of interest

- Alpha, beta and gamma actin isoforms have been identified, with alpha actins being a major constituent of the contractile apparatus, while beta and gamma actins are involved in the regulation of cell motility
- This actin is an alpha actin that is found in skeletal muscle
- Mutations in this gene cause nemaline myopathy type 3, congenital myopathy with excess of thin myofilaments, congenital myopathy with cores, and congenital myopathy with fiber-type disproportion, diseases that lead to muscle fiber defects.
