- Specifically detects SPPL2a in Human samples, and it is validated for Flow Cytometry, Western Blotting Signal-peptide-peptidase-like 2A (SPPL2a), a member of aspartic protease family, is an ubiquitously expressed intramembrane protease that cleaves type II membrane signal peptides in the hydrophobic plane of the membrane
- It has been implicated in the proteolysis of TNF-a, Fas Ligand, and Bri2
- SPPL2a exhibits about 7-0% homology with SPPL2b, however, the later is expressed primarily in adrenal cortex and mammary gland
- Over-expressed SPPL2a is observed in late endosomal compartments where it co-localizes with Rab7
- Its lysosomal/late endosomal sorting is dependent on a single tyrosine-based motif (Tyr498) in its cytoplasmic tail.
