Description

• Specifically detects HGF (Scatter Factor) Clone: 4C12.1 in Human samples, and it is validated for Immunoprecipitation Hepatocyte Growth Factor (HGF), also known as Scatter Factor (SF) and Hepatopoietin A, is a pleiotrophic growth factor which is produced by mesodermally derived cells such as endothelial cells, Kupffer cells/macrophages, and hepatic fat-storing cells
• HGF/SF is a potent effector of growth, movement, differentiation and invasiveness of epithelial and cancer cells
• It can induce epithelial-mesenchymal conversion of epithelial cells in culture, support epithelial branching duct formation in the developing lung and elicit a potent organotrophic function for regeneration of liver, kidney and lung through epithelial-stromal interactions
• HGF/SF is also a potent angiogenic molecule whose activity such as cell migration, proliferation, protease production, invasion and capillary tube formation is mediated through direct actions on vascular endothelial cells
• Recent evidence has shown that HGF/SF is overexpressed in invasive human cancer, relative to non-invasive and benign conditions
• In invasive breast cancers, the expression of HGF/SF is strongly correlated with von Willebrand Factor, a marker of endothelial cells
• The invasive and metastatic signals given by HGF/SF are transduced through the c-met proto-oncogene product, a transmembrane tyrosine kinase that functions as the HGF/SF receptor.
