- HAH 002-01-02 has specificity for butyrylcholinesterase from human serum or plasma
- Crossreactivity to BtChE from other species has not been tested
- HAH 002-01-02 has been successfully used in ELISA techniques
- HAH 002-01-02 reacts with BtChE from normal serum when tested in sandwich ELISA
- This antibody can be used as both the capture and detection antibody or an alternative antibody against BtChE can be used as capture antibody
- In addition, it can be used in crossed immunoelectrophoresis followed by incubation of the gel with HAH 002-01-02
- In immunoblotting after SDS-PAGE no reaction is seen with either the reduced or with the non-reduced form of BtChE
- No reaction is seen with acetylcholinesterase from human nervous tissue and erythrocytes
- The HAH 002-01-02 immunogen is Butyrylcholinesterase found in human plasma cells
- Mutant alleles at the BCHE locus are responsible for suxamethonium sensitivity
- Homozygous persons sustain prolonged apnea after administration of the muscle relaxant suxamethonium in connection with surgical anesthesia
- The activity of pseudocholinesterase in the serum is low and its substrate behavior is atypical
- In the absence of the relaxant, the homozygote is at no known disadvantage.
