Test Specificity:
NB100-63067 is specific for the beta subunit of cholera toxin. The beta subunit of cholera toxin binds to a GM1-ganglioside receptor which is widely accepted to initiate toxin action by triggering uptake and delivery of the toxin alpha subunit into cells. The holotoxin consists of a pentameric ring of beta subunits whose central pore is occupied by the alpha subunit. The alpha subunit contains two chains, A1 and A2, linked by a disulfide bridge. The alpha subunit (and cholera toxin) activate the adenylate cyclase enzyme in cells of the intestinal mucosa leading to increased levels of intracellular cAMP. This antibody immunoprecipitates cholera toxin in gel techniques.

NB100-63151 is specific for feline Herpesvirus type 1 (FHV-1), of the genus Herpesviridae. FHV-1 is worldwide, and the most clinically significant pathogen for feline respiratory infections, being the causative agent of feline viral rhinotracheitis (FVR). Clone FHV7-7C specifically reacts with three different cultured FHV isolates, but does not cross react with feline Calcivirus (FCV), feline Immunodeficiency virus (FIV) or feline Leukaemia virus (FeLV).

Primary or Secondary:

Test Specificity:
NB100-63168 recognizes both male and female ether extracted parasite antigen of canine heartworm. Canine heartworm infection, caused by the filarial nematode Dirofilaria immitis is an insidious and potentially fatal condition transmitted by mosquitoes, which primarily affects the heart and lungs of dogs, but may also affect other species including cats, foxes, sea-lions, ferrets and humans. Canine heartworm disease, resulting ultimately in damage to the pulmonary vasculature system, is largely attributed to the immunological response of the host to the presence of the adult parasites, and in many cases their microscopic offspring (microfilaria) which circulate in the bloodstream, but growing evidence suggests the involvement of further factors/mediators.
