- Preparation: This antibody was obtained from a rabbit immunized with purified, recombinant Mouse RBP4 (Met1-Leu201) and conjugated with FITC under optimum conditions, the unreacted FITC was removed
- Storage: This antibody can be stored at 2C-8C for twelve months without detectable loss of activity
- Protected from prolonged exposure to light
- Do not freeze! Sodium azide is toxic to cells and should be disposed of properly
- Flush with large volumes of water during disposal
- This protein belongs to the lipocalin family and is the specific carrier for retinol in the blood
- It delivers retinol from the liver stores to the peripheral tissues
- In plasma, the RBP-retinol complex interacts with transthyretin which prevents its loss by filtration through the kidney glomeruli
- A deficiency of vitamin A blocks secretion of the binding protein post translationally and results in defective delivery and supply to the epidermal cells.
