Description

  • Antibody detects endogenous levels of total SENP8
  • SENP8 (Cysteine protease FKSG8; DEN1; FKSG8; HsT17512; NEDP1; PRSC2; SUMO/sentrin specific protease family member 8), is a novel cysteine protease which belongs to the ULP family of deubiquitinases
  • ULP family members consist of a C-terminal core catalytic domain and N-terminal extensions determining substrate specificity
  • SENP8, a 24KDa protein, plays a major role in regulating NEDD8 pathway
  • It processes preNEDD8 to its mature form and deconjugates NEDD8 from substrates such as Cullins and p53
  • SENP8 may play a role in preventing accumulation of hyper-neddylated cullin and maintaining the level of mono-neddylated cullin that is thought to increase the efficiency of ubiquitination by SCF ubiquitin ligases.
