  • Hamster Prion Protein (residues 90-102) Synthetic Peptide, PEP-034, from Invitrogen
  • Human prion protein (PrP), also known as PRNP, is a ubiquitously expressed GPI-anchored cell surface glycoprotein associating with lipid raft components and functioning as a signaling molecule
  • PrP plays a role in apoptosis in a cell context-dependent manner, is involved in proliferation of epithelial cells and in distribution of junction-associated proteins in human enterocytes
  • Conversion of this normal cellular prion protein (PrPc) into an abnormal conformer (PrPSc) is the crucial step associated with triggering the pathogenesis of the prion neurodegenerative disorders, such as the Creutzfeld-Jakob disease (CJD)
  • Whereas PrPc is rich in alpha-helices, the PrPSc form has higher content of beta-sheets and is resistant to proteinase K
  • PEP-034 is a 13 amino acid synthetic peptide whose sequence corresponds to amino acid residues 90-102 of hamster prion protein
  • The sequence of this peptide is (amino to carboxy terminus): G (90)-Q-G-G-G-T-H-N-Q-W-N-K-P (102)-G-G-C (Glycine and cysteine residues were added to facilitate coupling KLH).This peptide may be used for neutralization and control experiments with the polyclonal antibody that reacts with this product and human prion protein, catalog &Num PA1-750
  • Using a solution with equal weights per unit volume of peptide and corresponding antibody will yield a solution with a large molar excess of peptide that is able to competitively bind the antibody.Reconstitute with 0.1 mL of distilled water.
