Description

  • Application: Poly-L-arginine hydrochloride has been used:as polyelectrolyte solution in the synthesis of biodegradable capsules[1]as layer constituent, in the preparation of layer by layer (LbL) assembly of multilayer biodegradable shells[2]in assay for the determination of binding activity of C-reactive protein for polycationic ligands[3]
  • Biochem/physiol Actions: Poly-L-arginine (PLA) possesses anti-bacterial activity. It has a greater capacity to enhance membrane permeability.[4] PLA at lower concentration enhances cell proliferation and at higher concentration acts as antiproliferative agent.[5]
  • Quality: Contains 3% or less ornithine residue by TLC.
  • Analysis Note: Molecular weight based on viscosity of precursor poly-L-ornithine.
