Description
- General description: The list of Phosphatidylcholine products offered by Avanti is designed to provide compounds having a variety of physical properties. Products available include short chain (C3-C8 are water soluble and hygroscopic), saturated, multi-unsaturated and mixed acid PC′s. All of the products are purified by HPLC, and special precautions are taken to protect the products for oxidization and hydrolysis.
- Application: 20:0 PC has been used in collision cross section (CCS) calibration mixture for lipid identification.[2]It may be used:as a component in giant unilamellar vesicles (GUVs) for a two-photon fluorescence microscopy study[3] to prepare small unilamellar vesicles (SUVs) to study the effect of hydrophobic mismatch on gramicidin conformation and organization[4]as a component in giant unilamellar vesicles (GUVs) to study its interaction with Crotalus atrox-secreted phospholipase A2 (sPLA2)[5]
- Biochem/physiol Actions: Phosphatidylcholine (PC) may participate in the signaling of neuronal differentiation.[6] It can serve as a surfactant to block the penetrance of bacteria by generating a hydrophobic surface.[1]
