- General description: Monomethyl sphingosine or N-methyl-D-erythro-sphingosine is a N-methyl derivative of sphingosine[1]
- Application: Monomethyl sphingosine or N-methyl-D-erythro-sphingosine may be used as one of the substrates for sphingosine methyltransferase to test its substrate specificity in rat kidney homogenate.[2]
- Biochem/physiol Actions: Monomethyl sphingosine inhibits protein kinase C. It also modulates other protein kinases and enzymes involved in signal transduction.[3]
