Description
- General description: C20 Ceramide (d17:1/20:0) is a synthetic ceramide containing C17 analog of sphingosine with arachidonic acid.[1] Ceramide synthase 2 catalyzes the synthesis of C20 Ceramide.[2] Ceramide is the key component of sphingolipids.[3]
- Application: C20 Ceramide (d17:1/20:0) has been used as an internal standard to measure the sphingolipid content in liver by ultra-high performance liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (UHPLC/MS/MS).[4]
- Biochem/physiol Actions: Ceramides play an important role in cell signaling, cell differentiation, proliferation and apoptosis.[2]
