- General description: Sphingosine (d22:1) is a sphingosine with 20 carbon long chain bases (LCB). It is a component of Asterias amurensis glucosylceramide.[1]
- Biochem/physiol Actions: Sphingosine negatively regulates cell proliferation and induces apoptosis.[2] It has an ability to regulate the activities of phospholipases, protein kinases, ion channels, cannabinoid receptor type 1 (CB-1) receptors and steroidogenic factor 1 (SF-1) receptors.[3]
