• General description: Collagen is one of the most abundant proteins in connective tissues and internal organs of mammals. Collagen, a structural component, provides the tensile strength of the extracellular matrix (ECM) and is classified into several structurally and genetically distinct types. Although different types of collagen exist, they are all composed of molecules with three polypeptide chains that are arranged in a triple helical conformation. Slight differences in the primary structure (amino acid sequence) establish differences between the types.The Soluble Collagen Quantification Assay Kit provides a simple and sensitive procedure for measuring soluble collagen in various sample types. You will get the result within 60 minutes: The amount of soluble collagen is determined based on an enzymatic reaction, where collagen is specifically digested into peptides. Subsequently, the collagen peptides are labeled with a fluorescent probe. The fluorescence intensity, measured at λ ex = 375 nm/ λ em = 465 nm, is proportional to the amount of soluble collagen in the sample. This kit can be used to quantify soluble collagen extracted from soft tissues (e.g., muscle, heart, etc.), tissue culture cell lysate and medium, serum samples, collagen in food, and purified collagens of various sources. This kit can detect purified collagen types I, II, III, IV and V. The detection range of the kit is 0.2-2 μg of soluble collagen.
