Description
- Application: High molecular weight poly-γ-glutamic acid (γPGA) was found to increase levels of NK cell-mediated cytotoxicity and INF-γ secretion in C57BL/6 mice.[1] Biodegradable γ-PGA nanoparticles have been evaluated for use as antigen delivery carriers[2] and delivery of influenza virus hemagglutin (HA) vaccine.[3] Additional life science applications for γ-PGA include uses in biodegradable fibers and nanofiber sheets, hydrogels, and cryoprotectants.[4][5][6]
- Other Notes: High molecular weight poly-γ-glutamic acid is a polymer of glutamic acid connected by amide linkages between α-amino and γ-carboxylic acid groups. γ-PGA is produced by fermentation in Bacillus species. The subunits are predominantly L-isomer.
