Description
- General description: Pomiferin is a prenylated flavonoid and a bioactive natural compound commonly derived from plants such as Citrus aurantium, Derris montana, Maclura pomifera, and Acacia horrida. Current research indicates that this metabolite is an inhibitor and may possess diverse biological activities, including antimicrobial, anticancer, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and neuroprotective properties.
- Application: Pomiferin is a natural product derived from plant source that finds application in compound screening libraries, metabolomics, phytochemical, and pharmaceutical research.
- Biochem/physiol Actions: Pomiferin acts as an potential inhibitor of HDAC, with an IC50 of 1.05 μM, and also potently inhibits mTOR (IC50, 6.2 μM). Pomiferin shows cytotoxic effects on human tumor cell lines. Pomiferin also increases SOD activities and total antioxidative capacity, and decreases malondialdehyde in rats.
