Description
- General description: α-Tocopherol acetate is a fat soluble vitamin[1] and a form of vitamin E.[2] It can be obtained through dietary sources.[3] RRRα-Tocopherol is a natural form of α-tocopherol.[4]
- Application: (+)-α-Tocopherol acetate has been used: as a component of growth medium for retinal cell lines[5] as an external standard in high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) to study its composition in leafy vegetables[6] in the preparation of trans-resveratrol-encapsulated lipid nanocarriers (R-nano)[7]
- Biochem/physiol Actions: α-Tocopherol is also known as a radical-chain breaker due to its anti-oxidant property.[8]
- Caution: Does not air oxidize.
