Description

  • General description: Tris(hydroxymethyl)aminomethane (Tris) has a pH buffering range between 7.0 - 9.0 and is a routine buffer in biological sciences.[1] Tris is used majorly in combination with ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA), especially for electrophoretic studies.[2] It displays negligible binding towards metal in solutions.[3]
  • Application: Trizma® hydrochloride solution has been used as a component of lysis buffer for testing on commercially available biological sample preservation paper types.[4] It has also been used as a vehicle and for dissolving leptin in reporter gene assay studies.[5]
