  • General description: Ethyl methyl carbonate (EMC) is a low viscosity solvent, generally prepared by the esterification of chloroformate with ethanol. It can also be prepared by transesterification of dimethyl carbonate (DMC) with ethanol.[1][2]
  • Application: EMC is majorly utilized as a co-solvent in the nonaqueous electrolyte. It enhances the energy density and discharge capacity of lithium-ion batteries.[1][2][3][4]
