- General description: Diethylene glycol monoethyl ether (DEGMEE) is an organic solvent commonly used in the cosmetic industry.[1] Its toxicity has been assessed.[2] Various thermodynamic and optical parameters of an aqueous solution of DEGMEE have been determined.[3] Its quantification along with diethylene glycol (DEG) and coumarin in food samples by gas chromatography-flame ionization technique has been reported.[4]
- Application: A cautionary note on the effects of laboratory air contaminants on ambient ionization mass spectrometry measurements.: Highlights the influence of diethylene glycol monoethyl ether as a common laboratory contaminant that can affect the accuracy of mass spectrometry analyses, underscoring the importance of controlling environmental variables in high-precision analytical settings (Kumbhani SR et al., 2017).
