• Isolate and cultivate Mycobacterium species with Thermo Scientific™ Remel™ Middlebrook 7H11 Agar
• Middlebrook 7H11 Agar is a modification of 7H9 and 7H10 media by Middlebrook
• Casein hydrolysate was incorporated into this modified medium to stimulate the growth of mycobacteria that would not otherwise grow on this medium
• Malachite-green dye is incorporated as a selective agent which inhibits bacteria other than mycobacteria
• Mycobacteria are immobile, slow-growing, rod-shaped, gram-positive bacteria with high genomic content
• The genus includes pathogens known to cause serious diseases in mammals, including tuberculosis and leprosy
• Use Middlebrook 7H11 Agar for the isolation and cultivation of Mycobacterium species
• Selective: Malachite-green dye is incorporated in the medium acts as a selective agent which inhibits bacteria other than mycobacteria
