Lysing Matrix E tubes contain 1.4 mm ceramic spheres, 0.1 mm silica spheres, and 4 mm glass beads
They are used with FastPrep instruments or any bead beater to lyse and grind environmental samples for nucleic acid extraction
Lysing Matrix E is also effective for lysing mixed samples, such as microbe infected tissue for RNA extraction from tumors and other difficult tissues
