• Biochem/physiol Actions: NCAPH (non-SMC condensin I complex subunit H) is a regulatory subunit of the condensin complex with an ATP-dependent positive supercoiling activity in vitro. It is phosphorylated by cdc2 (cyclin-dependent kinase 1)-cyclin B to incorporate positive supercoils into DNA, in the presence of ATP and topoisomerase I. It is crucially involved in the chromosome condensation. During condensation, it helps in the segregation of chromosomes during mitosis and meiosis stage.
