• Biochem/physiol Actions: Voltage-dependent calcium channel subunit α2/δ-1 (CACNA2D1) is involved in synaptogenesis and regulates the influx of calcium ions through the plasma membrane. Due to sensory nerve injury, there is up-regulation of CACNA2D1 in dorsal root ganglion (DRG) neurons and hence these subunits are immediately trafficked to their terminals.
