• General description: PSIP1 (PC4 and SFRS1 interacting protein 1) is a 75kDa chromatin-associated, cellular protein expressed in the human brain.

• Biochem/physiol Actions: PSIP1 (PC4 and SFRS1 interacting protein 1) is majorly involved in transcriptional regulation, mRNA splicing, and cell survival. It functions as a transcription co-activator to regulate genetic expression of lens epithelial cells and expression during stress response. It plays a vital role in HIV infectivity and integration targeting by binding directly to the lentiviral-encoded integrase protein (IN). Its perinuclear distribution pattern may have correlation with neuroepithelial stem cell differentiation and neurogenesis. It has been reported that PSIP1 may regulate Hox gene expression.
