• General description: The gene VPS28 (vacuolar protein sorting-associated protein 28 homolog) is mapped to human chromosome 8q24.3. The encoded protein is part of the ESCRT-1 (endosomal complexes required for transport) complex. The complex participates in membrane remodelling, including multivesicular body biogenesis and cytokinesis.
