Description

• General description: Tensin 1, also known as TNS1, is a member of tensin protein family. Tensins are multi domain proteins containing homologous C1, protein phosphatases (PTPases), C2, Src homology 2 (SH2) domains and pTyr-binding (PTB) domains. Tensin 1 mRNA is widely expressed in mouse embryo and various human adult tissues and is localized to focal adhesions.
• Immunogen: synthetic peptide corresponding to a sequence located in the internal region of human tensin1, conjugated to KLH. The corresponding sequence is identical in rat and mouse tensin1.
• Application: Anti-Tensin 1 (internal) antibody produced in rabbit has been used in immunoblotting.
• Biochem/physiol Actions: Tensins play an important role in regulating cell shape and motility. Tensin 1 is involved in organizing the actin cytoskeleton and mediating signal transduction. TNS1 is implicated in myofibroblast differentiation. In addition, it also helps myofibroblasts to form nascent fibronectin and collagen matrix.
• Physical form: Solution in 0.01 M phos­phate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.
