Description

• General description: Tensin 1 (TNS1) is encoded by the gene mapped to human chromosome 2q35. The encoded protein is localized to focal adhesions and is mainly expressed in renal tubular epithelial cells (TECs).
• Immunogen: synthetic peptide corresponding to a sequence located in the internal region of human tensin1, conjugated to KLH. The corresponding sequence is identical in rat and mouse tensin1.
• Application: Anti-Tensin 1 antibody may be used in immunofluorescence and immunohistochemistry.
• Biochem/physiol Actions: Tensin 1 (TNS1) contributes to transforming growth factor (TGF)-β-induced myofibroblast differentiation and extracellular fibronectin and collagen matrix formation. Disruption in the gene and associated signaling might hinder tissue fibrosis. The encoded protein anchors to stress fibers by interacting with cytoplasmic tails of integrins and increases metastatic abilities of cancer cells. Tensin plays a vital role in activation of the c-Jun N-terminal kinases (JNK) and p38 pathways.
• Physical form: Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.
