  • Target description: Catenin alpha-1 (UniProt: P35221; also known as Alpha E-catenin, Cadherin-associated protein, Renal carcinoma antigen NY-Ren™-13) is encoded by the CTNNA1 gene (Gene ID: 1495) in human. Catenin α-1 is a ubiquitously expressed protein that can exist as a monomer of a homodimer. The monomeric form preferentially binds to catenin β1 and the homodimeric form binds to actin. Catenin α-1 associates with the cytoplasmic domain of a variety of cadherins, and this association produces a complex that is linked to the actin filament network and appears to be of importance for cadherins cell-adhesion properties. At cell junctions, it is essential for cell cohesion and tissue organization. It also plays a role in contact-dependent growth inhibition and can antagonize Wnt/β-catenin-mediated transcription. Usually, cells contain a significant amount of cadherin-free α-catenin, and this pool of free α-catenin can impact actin dynamics, such as limiting Arp2/3-based actin polymerization and severing by cofilin that ultimately promotes the assembly and stabilization of unbranched filament bundles. Loss of function of CTNNA1 gene has been reported in several cases of breast cancer and some cases of gastric cancers. Three isoforms of Catenin α-1 have been described that are produced by alternative splicing. This ZooMAb® recombinant monoclonal antibody, generated by our propriety technology, offers significantly enhanced specificity, Affinity™, reproducibility, and stability over conventional monoclonals.   • Physical form: Purified recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibody IgG, lyophilized in PBS with 5% Trehalose, normal appearance a coarse or translucent resin. The PBS/trehalose components in the ZooMAb formulation can have the appearance of a semi-solid (bead like gel) after lyophilization. This is a normal phenomenon. Please follow the recommended reconstitution procedure in the data sheet to dissolve the semi-solid, bead-like, gel-appearing material. The resulting antibody solution is completely stable and functional as proven by full functional testing. Contains no biocide or preservatives, such as azide, or any animal by-products. Larger pack sizes provided as multiples of 25 µL.
  • Reconstitution: 300 µg/mL after reconstitution at 25 µL per vial. Please refer to guidance on suggested starting dilutions and/or titers per application and sample type.
  • Storage and Stability: Recommend storage of lyophilized product at 2-8°C; Before reconstitution, micro-centrifuge vials briefly to spin down material to bottom of the vial; Reconstitute each vial by adding 25 µL of filtered lab grade water or PBS; Reconstituted antibodies can be stored at 2-8°C, or -20°C for long term storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaws.
