- Biochem/physiol Actions: Angiotensin I converting enzyme (ACE) catalyzes the formation of angiotensin II from angiotensin I. ACE is a key aminopeptidase of the renin-angiotensin system. It is a membrane-bound enzyme which is expressed in atherosclerotic lesions.[2][3]
