Description

• General description: Recombinant, human furin expressed in vaccinia virus (VV:hFUR713t) infected BSC-40 cells. Furin is a membrane-associated, calcium-dependent, serine protease that belongs to the subtilisin-like pro-hormone convertase (PC) family. Members of this family cleave pro-hormones, neuropeptide precursors, some viral proteins, and bacterial toxins. The preparation was subjected to UV irradiation for 5 minutes to inactivate any residual virus.

• Unit Definition: One unit is defined as the amount of furin that will cleave 1.0 pmol AMC from the substrate pGlu-Arg-Thr-Lys-Arg-AMC per min at 30°C, pH 7.5.
• Physical form: In 20 mM Bis-Tris buffer, 1 mg/ml BSA, pH 7.0.
• Reconstitution: Following initial thaw, aliquot and freeze (-70°C).
