Description

  • Specifically detects phospho-AS160 (Thr642) in Human, Mouse samples, and it is validated for Western Blotting AS160 is a widely expressed RAB-GTPase activating protein which plays a role in insulin action
  • AS160 is phosphorylated by AKT, AMPK, RSK, and SGK1
  • Upon phosphorylation, AS160 changes its location from microsomes to the cytosol upon insulin treatment
  • AS160 acts as key link between insulin signaling and GLUT4 trafficking of glucose
  • Phosphorylation of AS160 is essential for AS160 action and AS160 has multiple phosphorylation sites
  • Phosphorylation of AS160 on both AS160Thr642 and AS160Ser588 is important for insulin-stimulated glucose transport
  • Phosphorylation of these sites is predicted to inhibit AS160's activation of Rab-GTPase proteins and favor greater exocytosis of GLUT4 vesicles, leading ultimately to greater glucose transport
  • Research indicates that impairment of phosphorylation of AS160 at Thr642 is associated with various aspects of type 2 diabetes.
