- These interactions are likely mediated by multiple repeating PDZ domains (90 amino acid repeats)
- Two additional proteins, homer and GRIP, have recently been shown to interact with the metabotropic and AMPA receptors, respectively
- It is likely that these proteins serve major functions in the molecular scaffolding and signal transduction process, which occurs at the synaptic junction.
