  • MAB994-I, is a mouse monoclonal antibody that detects sigma 1 hemagglutinin of Reovirus type 3 and has been tested for use in Flow Cytometry, Radioimmunoassay, Immunofluorescence, and neutralizing applications
  • Mammalian reoviruses are nonenveloped viruses with a segmented, double-stranded RNA genome
  • Although these viruses can infect most mammalian species, they are usually asymptomatic in human
  • In neonatal SCID NOD mice they can cause lethal infection
  • Three major reovirus serotypes have been described that are differentiated by the capacity of antisera to neutralize viral infectivity and block hemagglutination
  • Type 1 and 3 sigma 1 contain receptor-binding domains in both the tail and head regions and in type 3 sigma 1 tail is shown to bind alpha-linked sialic acid
