Test Specificity

The antibody HEB-20 reacts with human blood group B. The specificity of the antibody HEB-20 was confirmed by comparison of specificity and reactivity to standard reagent using 5.000 samples of blood. The monoclonal antibody HEB-20 shows specific staining of erythrocytes and vascular epithelium of blood group B controls and no staining in group A controls. This monoclonal antibody is applicable for tissue staining in tumor patients with blood groups B and AB. Blood group antigens are generally defined as molecules formed by sequential addition of saccharides to the carbohydrate side chains of lipids and proteins detected on erythrocytes and certain epithelial cells. The A, B and H antigens are reported to undergo modulation during malignant cellular transformation. Blood group related antigens represent a group of carbohydrate determinants carried on both glycolipids and glycoproteins. They are usually mucin type, and are detected on erythrocytes, certain epithelial cells, and in secretions of certain individuals. Sixteen genetically and biosynthetically distinct but inter related specificities belong to this group of antigens, including A, B, H, Lewis A, Lewis B, Lewis X, Lewis Y, and precursor type 1 chain antigens.

Antigen:
Chromogranin A

Classification:
Monoclonal

Conjugate:
Unconjugated

Formulation:
10mM PBS and 0.05% BSA with 0.05% Sodium Azide

Gene Symbols:
CHGA

Immunogen:
Recombinant human Chromogranin A protein (Uniprot: P10645)

Quantity:
7 mL

Primary or Secondary:
Primary

Test Specificity:
Chromogranin A is present in neuroendocrine cells throughout the body, including the neuroendocrine cells of the large and small intestine, adrenal medulla and pancreatic islets. It is an excellent marker for carcinoid tumors, pheochromocytomas, paragangliomas, and other neuroendocrine tumors. Co-expression of chromogranin A and neuron specific enolase (NSE) is common in neuroendocrine neoplasms. Reportedly, co-expression of certain keratins and chromogranin indicates neuroendocrine lineage. The presence of strong anti-chromogranin staining and absence of anti-keratin staining should raise the possibility of paraganglioma. The co-expression of chromogranin and NSE is typical of neuroendocrine neoplasms. Most pituitary adenomas and prolactinomas readily express chromogranin.

Antigen:
Cytokeratin 18

Classification:
Monoclonal

Conjugate:
Unconjugated

Formulation:
10mM PBS and 0.05% BSA with 0.05% Sodium Azide

Gene Symbols:
KRT18

Immunogen:
Recombinant full-length human Cytokeratin 18 protein (Uniprot: P05783)

Quantity:
7 mL

Primary or Secondary:
Primary

Test Specificity:
This monoclonal antibody reacts with a wide variety of simple epithelia. It does not react with stratified squamous epithelia. It reacts with epithelial tumors of the gastrointestinal tract, lung, breast, pancreas, ovary, and thyroid. Cytokeratin 18, which belongs to the type A (acidic) subfamily of low molecular weight keratins, exists in combination with cytokeratin 8. It is reported that tissues from gastrointestinal tract are positive for both cytokeratin 8 and 18 but do not contain cytokeratin 14. Tissues from gastrointestinal tract, respiratory tract and urogenital tract, as well as endocrine and exocrine tissues and mesothelial cells are positive for cytokeratin 18.
