Test Specificity

This antibody reacts with Ig domain of CD47 protein. CD47, originally named integrin-associated protein (IAP), is a 50kDa protein containing five membrane-spanning sequences and a short cytoplasmic tail. CD47 plays a role in both cell adhesion by acting as an adhesion receptor for THBS1 on platelets, and in the modulation of integrins. It is important in memory formation and synaptic plasticity in the hippocampus. CD47 may play a role in membrane transport and/or integrin dependent signal transduction.

Antigen:
Caldesmon/CALD1

Classification:
Monoclonal

Conjugate:
Biotin

Formulation:
PBS with 0.05% Sodium Azide

Gene Symbols:
CALD1

Immunogen:
Recombinant full-length human Caldesmon/CALD1 protein (Caldesmon/CALD1/820); Crude human uterus extract (h-CALD) (Uniprot: Q05682)

Quantity:
0.1 mL

Primary or Secondary:
Primary

Test Specificity:
Recognizes a protein of 150kDa, which is identified as the high molecular weight variant of Caldesmon. Two closely related variants of human caldesmon have been identified which are different in their electrophoretic mobility and cellular distribution. The h-caldesmon variant (120'150kDa) is predominantly expressed in smooth muscle whereas l-caldesmon (70'80kDa) is found in non- muscle tissue and cells. Neither of the two variants has been detected in skeletal muscle. This monoclonal antibody recognizes only the 150kDa variant (h-caldesmon) in Western blots of human aortic media extracts and is unreactive with fibroblast extracts from cultivated human foreskin. Caldesmon is a developmentally regulated protein involved in smooth muscle and non-muscle contraction.

Antigen:
Bcl-2

Classification:
Monoclonal

Conjugate:
Biotin

Formulation:
PBS with 0.05% Sodium Azide

Gene Symbols:
BCL2

Immunogen:
Recombinant full-length human bcl-2 protein (Uniprot: P10415)

Quantity:
0.1 mL

Primary or Secondary:
Primary

Test Specificity:
This antibody recognizes a protein of 25-26kDa, identified as the Bcl-2 lpha oncoprotein. It shows no cross-reaction with Bcl-x or Bax protein. Expression of Bcl-2 lpha oncoprotein inhibits the programmed cell death (apoptosis). In most follicular lymphomas, neoplastic germinal centers express high levels of Bcl-2 lpha protein, whereas the normal or hyperplastic germinal centers are negative. Consequently, this antibody is valuable when distinguishing between reactive and neoplastic follicular proliferation in lymph node biopsies. It may also be used in distinguishing between those follicular lymphomas that express Bcl-2 protein and the small number in which the neoplastic cells are Bcl-2 negative.

PBS with 0.05% Sodium Azide

Gene Symbols:
AR

Immunogen:
A synthetic peptide, aa 302-318 of human Androgen R/NR3C4 (Androgen R/NR3C4441); Recombinant human DHTR protein (DHTR/882) (Uniprot: P10275)

Quantity:
0.1 mL

Primary or Secondary:
Primary

Test Specificity:
Recognizes a protein of 110kDa, which is identified as androgen receptor (AR). It reacts with full length, and the newly described A form of the receptor. It does not cross react with estrogen, progesterone, or glucocorticoid receptors. The expression of AR is reportedly inversely correlated with histologic grade i.e. well differentiated prostate tumors show higher expression than the poorly differentiated tumors. In prostate cancer, AR has been proposed, as a marker of hormone-responsiveness and thus it may be useful in identifying patients likely to benefit from anti-androgen therapy. Anti-androgen receptor has been useful clinically in differentiating morpheaform basal cell carcinoma (mBCC) from desmoplastic trichoepithelioma (DTE) in the skin. This monoclonal antibody is superb for staining of formalin/paraffin tissues.
