- Specifically detects p53 (Ab-11) (Pantropic) Clone: PAb1802 in Human, Mouse samples, and it is validated for Immunoprecipitation p53 (393 amino acids) exhibits sequence-specific DNA binding, directly interacts with various cellular and viral proteins, and induces cell cycle arrest in response to DNA damage by inducing GADD45, WAF1, and MDM2
- p53 is the most commonly mutated gene in human cancer with most mutations occurring in the DNA contact residues
- p53 binds damaged DNA non-specifically via its C-terminal 75 amino acids which in turn may be responsible for subsequent activation, sequence-specific DNA binding, and WAF1 induction allowing DNA repair to take place
- p53 down regulates bcl-2 expression and up regulates bax expression, but may not always be necessary for apoptosis
- In addition to the afore mentioned proteins, two other proteins involved in replication and recombination, RPA and RAD51, also bind p53.
