Description

  • Antibody detects endogenous levels of total VGLL2
  • VGLL2 is the master regulator in the wing development in Drosophila, which acts through a complex by interacting with scalloped, a homolog of vertebrate TEF proteins
  • Northern and dot blot analyses of human adult tissues detected VGLL2 expression in skeletal muscle
  • In situ hybridization revealed VGLL2 expression in differentiating somites and branchial arches during mouse embryogenesis
  • VITO1 is the clone of VGLL2
  • It contains a scalloped interaction domain (SID)
  • VITO1 is more highly expressed in differentiated myotubes from the mouse C2C12 myogenic cell line than in undifferentiated cells
  • During differentiation in mouse C2C12 cell line, VGLL2 mRNA levels increase and VGLL2 protein translocates from the cytoplasm to the nucleus
  • Interference with VITO1 expression by small interfering RNA attenuated differentiation in C2C12 muscle cells
  • Therefore, this protein is an important component of the myogenic program.
