Immunogen

PTP1B (Ser-50) synthetic peptide (coupled to carrier protein) corresponds to amino acids surrounding Ser-50 in human PTP1B. This sequence has significant homology to the conserved site in rat and mouse PTP1B, and has homology to conserved sites in TC-PTP and MPTP, but not other protein tyrosine phosphatase family members.

Description

  • The antibody detects a 50 kDa* doublet corresponding to PTP1B in western blots of calyculin A treated human A431 and Jurkat cells
  • This reactivity is observed as a weak singlet in control cells and is not observed after lambda phosphatase treatment
  • PTP1B (PTPN1) is a tyrosine-protein phosphatase which acts as a regulator of endoplasmic reticulum unfolded protein response
  • It mediates dephosphorylation of EIF2AK3/PERK and in turn inactivates the protein kinase activity of EIF2AK3/PERK
  • PTP1B also plays a role in CKII- and p60c-src-induced signal transduction cascades
  • It regulates the EFNA5-EPHA3 signaling pathway which modulates cell reorganization and cell-cell repulsion
  • PTP1B also regulates the hepatocyte growth factor receptor signaling pathway through dephosphorylation of MET.
