Description

  • General description: Chemical structure: peptide
  • Application: Valinomycin has been used: to equilibrate intracellular pH and extracellular pH of 5 (and 6-)-carboxyfluorescein succinimidyl ester (cFSE) in Escherichia coli strain B23[3]as an ionophore to equilibrate intracellular pH and extracellular pH of lactic acid bacteria (LAB) strains[4]to establish the desired pH for acid-base transition and formation of K+-valinomycin diffusion potential[5]
  • Biochem/physiol Actions: K+-selective ionophoric cyclodepsipeptide; potassium ionophore which uncouples oxidative phosphorylation, induces apoptosis in murine thymocytes, inhibits NGF-induced neuronal differentiation and antagonizes ET-induced vasoconstriction.
