Description
- General description: Dextran is a polymer of anhydroglucose. It is composed of approximately 95% alpha-D-(166) linkages. The remaining (163) linkages account for the branching of dextran.
- Application: Dextran sulfate increases binding of epithelial cells and lymphocytes to extracellular matrix proteins including fibronectin and laminin. In addition, dextran sulfate altered expreβion of cell surface receptors integrins. [1]
- Preparation Note: Sigma dextrans are derived from Leuconostoc mesenteroides.
