Description
- General description: Croton oil is a toxic viscous liquid extracted from seeds of Croton tiglium. It is pale yellow to brown in color and is transparent in nature.[1] Croton oil has a strong irritant property[1] and is used along with phenol in some chemical peels.[2] It also has a tumor promoting ability.[3]
- Application: Croton oil has been used to induce acute skin inflammation.[6]
- Other Notes: Essential oil rich in glycerides of saturated fatty acids, and in phorbol esters.
