Description
- General description: Soy phosphatidylcholine (PC) (20%) or lecithin is isolated from Glycine Max (soybean). It is a phospholipid mixture with phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylethanolamine and phosphatidylinosine.[1]
- Application: Soy PC (20%) has been used for the preparation of liposomes.[2][3][4]
- Biochem/physiol Actions: Soy PC (20%) has wide applications as an emulsifier in the food, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics industries.[1] It is used to mimic biological membrane due to the presence of high polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs).[5] Soy PC based liposomes is useful as carrier for anticancer drug, paclitaxel.[6]
