- General description: Phosphatidylcholine (PC) is a strong bilayer-forming lipid found in mammalian membranes. It consists of a positively charged quaternary amine in the headgroup and a negatively charged phosphate group.[1]
- Application: Liver PC is suitable for use:in the preparation of two dimensional crystals of microsomal glutathione transferase 1 for electron microscopy[2]in the preparation of ′golgi lipid′ mixture for liposome recruitment assay[3]in lipid vesicle preparation for ligand transfer assay[4]
- Biochem/physiol Actions: Phosphatidylcholine (PC) is an important source of diacylglycerol and other signaling molecules.[5] Liver PC has a saturated to unsaturated fatty acid ratio of 0.91.[6]
