Description

  • General description: Phosphatidylinositol (PtdIns) is a structural phospholipid.[1] PI is synthesized by mycobacteria and other bacterial genera in prokaryotes.[2]
  • Application: 18:1 Lyso PI is suitable for use to quantify the fatty acids, lysophospholipids (LPLs), and phospholipids (PLs) and LPAs in gintonin-enriched fraction (GEF) by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS).[3]
  • Biochem/physiol Actions: Phosphatidylinositol (PI) participates in polyphosphoinositide turnover.[4] It can be used as a substrate to produce several molecules, that can modulate various cellular functions.[1] In eukaryotes, phosphatidylinositol (PI)-based lipids (phosphoinositides) plays a key role in intracellular signalling. It is also involved in the anchoring of glycosylphosphatidylinositol-linked proteins to the membrane.[2]
