- General description: Lysophosphatidylinositol (LPI), produced by phospholipase A2 is a bioactive lipid.[1]
- Application: 13:0 Lyso PI (1-tridecanoyl-2-hydroxy-sn-glycero-3-phospho-(1′-myo-inositol) may be used as a nonendogenous phospholipid (PL) standard for the quantitative analysis of PLs.[2] It may also be used as a standard for tandem mass spectrometry analysis of lipid species in human plasma.[3]
- Biochem/physiol Actions: Increased circulating levels of L-alpha-lysophosphatidylinositol (LPI) are associated with cancer and LPI is a potent ligand for the G-protein-coupled receptor GPR55.
