  • General description: Monoacylglycerols (MAGs) are glycerol esters, that can be produced by the glycerolysis of triglycerides and alkyl esters.[1] MAGs are polar lipids and amphiphilic in nature.[2]
  • Application: 8.8 MAG may be used as a host lipid to grow MdfA (multidrug transporter protein)–YN1074 (Fab fragment) complex grown using the lipidic cubic phase (LCP) crystallization method.[3]
  • Biochem/physiol Actions: Monoacylglycerols are used in lotions, ointments and deodorants. It serves as a lubricant, antistatic and plastifying agent, hence it is very useful in the plastic industry.[1]
