• Biochem/physiol Actions: FADD (Fas (TNFRSF6)-associated via death domain) gene encodes an apoptotic adaptor molecule. It is associated with the death receptor Fas and caspase-8 to form the death-inducing signaling complex (DISC), that initiates the induction of programmed cell death. Defects in this gene impairs Fas-independent signaling pathways causing autoimmune lymphoproliferative syndrome (ALPS).
