  • Specificity: Clone 3F5 is a Rabbit recombinant monoclonal antibody that specifically detects Neural cell adhesion molecule 1 (CD56). It targets an epitope within 23 amino acids from the N-terminal, extracellular domain.
  • Immunogen: KLH-conjugated linear peptide corresponding to 23 amino acids from the N-terminal, extracellular domain of human Neural cell adhesion molecule 1 (CD56).

  • Target description: Neural cell adhesion molecule 1 (UniProt: P13591; also known as N-CAM-1, NCAM-1, CD56) is encoded by the NCAM1 (also known as NCAM) gene (Gene ID: 4684) in human. CD56 is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily that is engaged in both so-called homophilic and heterophilic interactions. It is a single-pass type I membrane glycoprotein that is synthesized with a signal peptide (aa 1-19), which is subsequently cleaved off to generate the mature form that contains an extracellular domain (aa 20-718), a transmembrane domain (aa 719-739), and a cytoplasmic domain (aa 740-858). It also contains five Ig-like C2-type domains and two fibronectin type-III domains. CD56 is expressed by neurons, glia, skeletal muscle, and natural killer (NK) cells. It is involved in neuron-neuron adhesion, neurite fasciculation, and outgrowth of neurite. It is considered as the archetypal phenotypic marker for natural killer cells, but is also expressed in many other immune cells, including ab T cells, g T cells, dendritic cells, and monocytes. It is also shown to play a role in the fungus mediated NK cell activation and blocking of CD56 surface receptor reduced fungal mediated NK cell activation and reduced cytokine secretion. This ZooMAb® recombinant monoclonal antibody, generated by our propriety technology, offers significantly enhanced specificity, affinity, reproducibility, and stability over conventional monoclonals.   • Physical form: Purified recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibody IgG, lyophilized in PBS, 5% Trehalose, normal appearance a coarse or translucent resin. The PBS/trehalose components in the ZooMAb formulation can have the appearance of a semi-solid (bead like gel) after lyophilization. This is a normal phenomenon. Please follow the recommended reconstitution procedure in the data sheet to dissolve the semi-solid, bead-like, gel-appearing material. The resulting antibody solution is completely stable and functional as proven by full functional testing. Contains no biocide or preservatives, such as azide, or any animal by-products. Larger pack sizes provided as multiples of 25 μL.
  • Reconstitution: 300 μg/mL after reconstitution at 25 μL per vial. Please refer to guidance on suggested starting dilutions and/or titers per application and sample type.
  • Storage and Stability: Recommend storage of lyophilized product at 2-8°C; Before reconstitution, micro-centrifuge vials briefly to spin down material to bottom of the vial; Reconstitute each vial by adding 25 μL of filtered lab grade water or PBS; Reconstituted antibodies can be stored at 2-8°C, or -20°C for long term storage. Avoid repeated freeze-thaws.
